In a new gameplay video, Minecraft Legends shows its 4 co-op methods

In addition – on, a Spring 2023 release date has also been set.

All through today’s Minecraft Live, a lot of good info was revealed regarding Minecraft Legends, the real-time, third-person strategic spinoff of Mojang’s ever-popular blocky world. Minecraft Legends will be published in the spring of 2023, and we’ve already seen two cinematic trailers and a long string of four-person gameplay as a team attacks a Biglin base.

In it, two Mojang developers and two Blackbird Interactive developers gather a team of overworld mobs and use them to attack the invading Piggins. It also proves how resource gathering works, as Allays gather resources for the players to use in their structures.

The allays can also auto-build for players, enabling each other to select from a variety of pre-designed structures to put in the world. They’ll also set up spawners, which players can use to recruit units including golems, zombies, and creepers to fight the invading Piggins.

This year, Minecraft Legends was announced, a third-person action RTS in the vein of Nintendo’s Pikmin or Codemasters’ Overlord series. We knew you’d lead the overworld in force against the invading nether monsters, and we knew there would be multiplayer, but this is the first confirmation that it’ll be cooperative multiplayer for up to four players. Weren’t yet certain if there will be crossplay, but Mojang did eventually add it to spinoff Minecraft Dungeons—at least between Xbox and PC.

The presentation includes the above trailer as well as a longer introductory trailer featuring developer Jens. You can watch the whole Minecraft Legends segment on YouTube (opens in new tab), but I’ve emphasized the time below to begin right whenever the gameplay begins (opens in new tab).

That was a lot! We see a variety of brand-new mobs, including such new golems, in addition to strange Piglin enemies like a lava launcher, a crazy centaur-pig, and what appears to be a… gemstone pig. I’m yet certain that, but the variety of interactions available would seem to be extremely cool and speaks well for Legends’ actual strategic and tactical level.
