GTA 6 leak includes robbery gameplay, Vice City locations, and two playable characters.
A user called ‘teapotuberhacker‘ on GTAForums contended to be behind a recent Uber hack and has posted 90 videos he asserts are from a test build of Grand Theft Auto 6, running with “GTA 5 and 6 source code and assets.” Screenshots and clips from these videos are being posted on YouTube, Twitter, Reddit, and elsewhere, and they act in accordance with details from the recent GTA 6 leak as well as an earlier one, both of which suggested it will have multiple playable characters, one of which is woman, and will occur in and around the Miami-Esque Vice City.
Rockstar has now confirmed the honesty of the leak. “… an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and get confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto,” in accordance with the company’s remark.
In one video (the shorter version on Twitter), a player-character named Lucia and also an accomplice named Jason rob a waffle restaurant, taking hostages like they’re in Pulp Fiction. A meter counts down the ‘Time Until Cops Dispatched,’ and it all looks pretty similar to the robberies in Red Dead Redemption 2, amidst the mannequin NPCs clipping through objects, placeholder dialogue text like “Jason: GENERIC CURSE TO SELF,” and a cop car that looks as if it was recycled from GTA 5.
The footage of a poolside conversation between a male player character and a couple of redneck associates (Twitter) is more convincing. Similar to a dialogue, “Oh, he’s dead, isn’t he? Finland, for instance –, is a country “comes across as incredibly Rockstar, and the voice acting is superb.
There’s a lot of quiet here that smacks of Rockstar well. The notification “WhatUp! message received” during a strip club sequence (Twitter) suggests a WhatsApp parody, which seems like an extremely Rockstar thing to do, as does setting entire scenes in a strip club complete with detailed pole dancing (opens in new tab).
As per the previous GTA 6 leak, the game has been in development since 2014 under the codename ‘Project Americas.’ These files, which include the term “Americas” in their names and show a version running on a PlayStation 4 dev kit, might be several years old. Nevertheless, if they are authentic, they confirm the broad details of previous leaks, which made it sound like a game that wouldn’t be managed to finish until 2025. And who knows when a PC version will indeed be issued? In simplest terms, don’t hold your breath.
