Cyberpunk 2077 also has evolved into one of the most popular titles on Steam Deck.
Night City is a tourist place for Steam Deck users.
Valve has only just released its list of the top Steam Deck games in September by total hours played, and it would seem that Cyberpunk 2077’s moment had also stretched to handheld gaming too though. CD Projekt Red’s 2020 sci-fi open-world RPG came in 4th position, along with some of last month’s repeats like Vampire Survivors, Elden Ring, and Stardew Valley.
It’s not surprising to see Cyberpunk rank so high, provided that we recently reported that it was going to attract more than 1 million players every day(opens in new tab) just last week. After CD Projekt Red’s 1.6 “Edgerunners” update(opens in new tab) finally added the lengthy transmog system, this is starting to feel like a second launch. I can confirm that I spent a minimum of two hours on Steam Deck meticulously organizing my V’s outfits.
Aside from just that, the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime on Netflix seems to have intrigued some Cyberpunk 2077 owners to return to Night City (opens in a new tab). Wes Fenlon, our unofficial anime editor, thought it was an enjoyable watch. CDPR also included a few in-game items based on the anime, like David’s jacket.
When we saw the August list of top Steam Deck games last month, we joked that everyone is using their Deck like a better Nintendo Switch (opens in a new tab). But it’s a sentiment I can get behind because the Steam Deck performs better than the Switch itself in some Nintendo Switch games.
This week, CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 20 million copies (opens in new tab), which is a pretty impressive accomplishment. Next year’s Phantom Liberty expansion would also see the return of V and his computer ghost friend Johnny Silverhand, with Keanu Reeves reprising his role.
